Unique test facilities

World-class facilities, at your fingertips

Based on the historic airfield site of Throckmorton, steeped in RAF history, today you will find our unique and world-class test and research facilities.

We have a range of different facilities set up for differing test and research operations. From the small scale laboratory fabrication and measurements, to complex operations within some of the largest indoor test spaces in the UK.

When you work with Malvern Optical, you will have direct access to use our facilities, and we have a full team of scientists and engineers onsite.

EMC Screened Room

An RF quiet environment for sensitive electromagnetic testing of very large platforms and equipment.

RF Plotting Range

The large turntable, antenna array and plotting hut allows the measurement of antenna radiated patterns.

70 Tonne Turntable

Our large turntable facility allows the precise rotation of large platforms or installations for test purposes.

Low Light Test Facility

This Facility provides a large test area with controlled lighting conditions, from twilight to complete darkness.

Laser and Imaging Range

Malvern Optical has access to a laser and imaging range over 450m which can accommodate lasers up to Class 4.

Optical Characterisation

Malvern Optical has a suite of measurement equipment that can be used both in the laboratory and field.

Materials Fabrication

Our specialist materials laboratories can be used to create prototype novel materials for evaluation.

Imaging Laboratories

We can evaluate commercially available and prototype electro-optic sensors using our extensive facilities.

Use our facilities

We use our facilities daily for our clients projects, but we also invite certain people to come and use our facilities for their own purposes if it meets our criteria.

Throckmorton Airfield

Formally known as RAF Pershore, Throckmorton Airfield is home to the Throckmorton Air Show and was built in the 1940s, during the Second World War. Explore our site and find out about its rich history and what goes on here today.
