Malvern Optical operates a suite of imaging laboratories for the purposes of sensor system evaluation for a range of different applications.
Using our extensive capability, we are able to assess commercially available and prototype sensor systems, from long-range observation to short-range monitoring, covering visible, non-visible and fused imagery applications.
Our laboratories have a wide range of illumination systems, test charts and artefacts suitable for performance assessment, both static and in motion.
Equipment for environmental monitoring during testing is also used, such as calibrated illumination and irradiance meters (including pyranometers and pyrheliometers), spectroradiometers, and weather stations.
Assessment of thermal and multi-waveband systems is also possible using multi-spectral targets.

Environmental monitoring equipment covers these systems and specialist test charts can be manufactured using our adjacent materials fabrication and optical characterisation facilities.
- Covers visible, non-visible, and fused imagery applications
- Capabilities span from long-range to short-range assessment, including visible and non-visible imagery
- The imaging laboratories feature diverse illumination systems, test charts, and environmental monitoring equipment
- Multispectral targets for thermal and multi-waveband systems
- Adjacent fabrication facility enables specialised test charts
